A Quick Review of the Reebok RL 900 Elliptical Trainer
The Reebok RL 900 Elliptical is one of the older Reebok models that was released a few years ago and has since been discontinued.

At $999, the Reebok RL 900 is on the high side of the 'economy' elliptical category.  But it was very popular - until newer, more advanced models came out.

Since it has been discontinued if you are thinking about buying this elliptical second-hand, be aware the Reebok will not honor the warranty on a 2nd owner.

Also, it could be very hard to find parts should something go wrong with the elliptical so you could be out a lot of money.

Here's a review of the Reebok RL 900 Elliptical.

Main Features:
Sitemap
Quick Incline - The incline feature lets you change your slope up or down electronically throughout your workout (Incline is not the same as Resistance).  Incline allows you to work different sets of muscles resulting in better crosstraining, more efficient fat burning and reduced injury from overtraining one set of muscles. (The Reebok RL 900 elliptical offers from 10 - 30% Incline)

Quick Resistance - Resistance increases how hard your legs have to work to go through the elliptical motion.  With the RL 900 you can instantly change the resistance to your desired level with the single touch of a button. (12 levels of resistance)

iFit Compatible - The Reebok RL 900 can run optional iFIT.com® workouts in addition to the workouts built-in to your console. This can help fight off exercise boredom and burn more calories over the long run.

Workout Fans -  Four fan settings let you choose between low, medium, high or AutoBreeze™, which automatically changes the airflow to match the speed of your elliptical.

EKG™ Grip Heart Rate Monitor - Two sensors built into the handlebars give you a quick pulse reading. Grip them while you workout to monitor your pulse rate and stay in your target zone

Pros:

This is definitely a monster machine and with a 350 lb user weight capacity it's sturdier than your typical $500 Reebok model.  If weight capacity is an issue then this machine is definitely a better choice than the lesser priced models.

We also like the club-style console that gives you a 15 x 21 workout matrix that helps you visually track your workout. Plus the Quick Ramp Incline and Resistance buttons are on either side of the matrix making it easy to change resistance and/or incline by just pushing one button.

Incline capability is also a great option to have in an elliptical as it helps you to work your full range of lower body muscles, avoid overtraining and burn more fat.

Also, compared to other Reebok elliptical trainers which have a short 90 day warranty, the Reebok 900 offers a 1 year parts and labor warranty.  Not the best but still an improvement in a Reebok model.

Cons:

The extra money is really going into paying for the heavier unit weight (and heavier user weight capacity) as well as the updated console and longer warranty.

Compared to similarly priced ellipticals the Reebok 900 falls down in terms of warranty and quality of parts.

Bottom Line:

If you want a sturdier, more stable elliptical but can't afford to spend over $1000, the Reebok RL 900 is a pretty solid buy, especially for a Reebok elliptical.  It's not a commercial grade machine, but for occasional home use, the Reebok RL 900 should stand up fairly well over time.

If you don't care about the console or the extra weight capacity and want to save some money, you might want to consider cheaper models with longer warranties like some Nordic Track models.

Best Place To Buy:

You can save a few hundred dollars by buying the Reebok RL900 elliptical direct from the Reebok manufacturer.  You can usually save on store markup.

You can sometimes get free shipping and save on sales tax also.
