Strengths:
Adjustable Strides - Depending on your LifeFitness elliptical model, many of them let you choose between different strides. Adjustable strides are great when there are more than one user for the elliptical as different people often prefer different stride lengths.
Oversized Pedals - These accommodate any foot size. The pedals are also spaced closer together so that lateral hip shifting (which can strain the lower back) is minimized.
Commercial Grade Construction - There's no doubt that these are high grade ellipticals, built to give you the same feeling as the ellipticals at the gym. The ride is smooth, the console is incredibly advanced and the ratio of handlebars to pedals is biomechanically correct.
High User and Expert Reviews - User reviews are quite positive, averaging 5 out of 5 stars at Amazon. Also, several higher end Life Fitness elliptical trainers have received 'Recommended Buys' and high ratings by experts like Consumer Guide and Smart Money
Weaknesses:
One main weakness is that, while these are luxury ellipticals, they are way more than many people may need. With an average price around $3000 they're really suited for the luxury or high end home gym.
Summary:
Are LifeFitness ellipticals worth the money? That's hard to say and it really depends on the exerciser. There's no doubt that these are high quality, luxury machines. We'd all love to own one. However for many home exercisers, they may be a bit too expensive and more than they really need.
If you want a commercial grade elliptical without the high price tag, one alternative is the Sole models, which offer high 20" strides and start around $1299.
Overall however if you can afford it, a Life Fitness elliptical is a beautiful machine.
