Weaknesses:
We could be wrong but this brand seems to be stagnating. Several models are now almost impossible to find and there are very few reviews on the ones that are out there.
Summary:
New Balance elliptical trainers do offer some promising features including a good warranty, lots of resistance levels, oversized foot pedals and decent stride lengths.
The higher end models (the 9.0 and the 8000) do show some promise with higher stride lengths and the 2 side flywheel design which is more compact.
All things considered however, we would probably not choose a New Balance elliptical over more proven brand names like Sole or Schwinn.

New Balance elliptical trainers are fairly new on the scene. New Balance partnered with Fitness Quest in 2003 to start making fitness equipment like bikes, treadmills and elliptical trainers.
Although Fitness Quest doesn't have the best reputation in the fitness equipment business (they also produce the Total Gym, Ab Lounge and Tony Little products), their ellipticals might still be worth a look.
New Balance produces several economy ellipticals that are under $1000. While they're affordable, competition is pretty fierce at this price point they're going up against heavies like Schwinn and Nordic Track.
Strengths:
Upper Body Arms - All New Balance machines offer upper body arms bars, which is fairly standard but still a feature that most buyers want. Upper body arm bars allow you to tone and work your upper body resulting in more calories burned in less time.
Oversized Comform™ Foot Pedals: - ComForm™ foot platforms offer a built-in skid resistant surface and allow you to find the most comfortable foot position within the elliptical motion.
2 Side Flywheels - This is a design found on the New Balance 8000. You may have noticed this design in many of the high end commercial elliptical trainers. It's a trend that is slowly creeping into the residential elliptical market.
Having 2 side flywheels (instead of 1 large one in the middle as most ellipticals have) gives you a more compact elliptical and also makes for a very stable, sleek looking machine.
Warranty - NewBalance ellipticals are covered by a standard warranty: 10 years on the frame, 2 years electronics and 1 year on parts. This is a decent warranty - better than some brands, not as good as others.
Various Stride Lengths - The cheaper New Balance crosstrainers (the 5.5 and the 8.0) only offer 15" stride lengths which is fairly small. If you're taller or really want to pick up your pace on your elliptical, this stride length may not be the most comfortable for you.
On the other hand the higher grade New Balance machines (the 9.0 and the 8000) offer longer 18 - 20" strides which are a huge improvement and can help you get a more efficient workout
