Strengths:
19 Built In Workouts - Each workout is designed by a certified personal trainer, and adjusts speed or incline automatically to help you reach your goals and stay in your target heart rate. You can also create and customize your workouts.
EKG Grip Pulse Sensors - Stay in your target heart rate range and monitor your heart rate with the sensors built into the handlebars.
18" Stride Length - While some economy ellipticals only give you a 14-16" stride length, the FX 7 gives you a longer 18" stride. This helps work your leg muscles more fully, giving you an overall more efficient workout.
CoolAire™ Fan - Stay cool while you workout with a fan built into the console. While this is a fairly standard feature on Proform machines, it's still a nice touch to have especially if you work out hard.
Weaknesses:
The user weight capacity is low at 250 pounds - so this wouldn't be an appropriate trainer for heavier users or those who really want to pick up their pace.
Also at the sale price ($599) this is a good deal. At the regular price of $999, there are alot better options like those in the Nordic track lineup
Summary:
Overall, the Proform FX 7 Elliptical trainer does offer a bit more in terms of construction, workout programs and stride length than the older Proform models. At the sale price $599, it's a good value. At the regular price of $999 however, we would probably look elsewhere.
For similarly priced ellipticals with higher user weight capacities and more workout features you may want to check out the Nordic track lineup or even a higher end Proform.
