What To Know Before You Buy
Strengths:

Choose from 11", 13" or 16" Stride - These three different stride lengths will help you work different sets of muscle groups and vary your workout routine.  It's also a great option for multiple users who may prefer one stride length over another.  However, it's fair to note that taller users (over 5'8") may find even the 16" stride too short for their comfort.

Folds Up To Save Space - Very few ellipticals fold up - so it's a nice feature to have, especially if space is limited in your area.  The Stride Select elliptical folds up easily and saves you about 3 feet of floor space.

20 Built In Workout Programs - This is a lot of programs to have on an elliptical at this price point and will definitely keep you busy. The workouts automatically adjust the resistance of your elliptical based on the workout goal - aerobic, weight loss or performance. There are also 2 heart rate workouts that work to keep you in your target fat-burning zone.

iFit Card Compatible  - The Proform Stride Select elliptical console has a built-in iFit card reader.  iFit Cards are separate cards that have 8 weeks of interactive workouts on them.

Each workout on the card is designed by a certified personal trainer and plugs directly into the elliptical's console. It will automatically adjust your speed and incline for you and you get a personal trainer's voice guiding you through the workout.

Weaknesses:

The Stride Select elliptical is a great price - but it's still an entry level machine and not built for aggressive or heavy use.

The 16" stride length is ok, but not the best for anyone over 5'8". If you are taller or want to pick up your pace, check out an 18" stride on a Nordic Track elliptical or the 20" stride on the Sole units.

Summary:

If you're on a tight budget but don't want the flimsy economy units at the local department store, the Proform Stride Select elliptical is worth checking out.

The different strides help you work different muscle groups and you get lots of workout challenges like 20 interactive workout programs and an iFit card reader. It also folds up if you're short on space.

However keep in mind that it is an entry level unit and probably not suitable for the seasoned elliptical athlete or taller user.  If you're looking for a more commercial grade construction and a longer stride, check out a Sole first.

The Proform StrideSelect elliptical offers an interesting twist on an entry level elliptical.

You can change your stride lengths (stride is the furthest distance between the pedals during the elliptical motion) from 11 to 13 to 16 inches. By doing this you can work different sets of muscle groups and vary your workout routine.

The Stride Select also folds up to save you space (or for easy storage).  Plus it's iFit compatible so you can get even more workout programs on your elliptical.
