Solid Warranty - The 418 comes with a great warranty for an elliptical at this price point. The warranty covers the frame for 15 years, parts for 2 years, electronics for 1 year and labor for 6 months.
Articulating Footplate - the articulating footplate follows the natural motion of your foot and supports your heel throughout the entire stride motion. This makes for a much smoother feel when you're working out.
High Expert & User Ratings - The Schwinn 418 was recommended by a leading Consumer magazine as a 'Best Buy' and it rates highly with users also. It earns 4 out of 5 stars at Amazon. Main features that users liked were the solid feel of the unit, the number of workout programs and of course, the price.
Weaknesses:
The Schwinn 418 is an economy elliptical with a fairly simple, bare bones console. Although it is fairly stable, don't expect the feel of a gym quality unit. Also, Schwinn seems to be phasing it out - which could mean problems in the future with servicing.
Bottom Line:
At this price we think the Schwinn 418 is a pretty good budget buy. With an 18" stride, magnetic resistance, 12 built in programs, articulating footplate, great reviews and decent warranty it packs a lot of value into a very small price.
While it's not nearly as strong as the mid-priced ellipticals, if you're on a budget, you'll probably be happy with the 418 elliptical.
