Strengths:
20 Inch Stride Length - Many cheaper ellipticals offer stride lengths of only 14 or 16 inches. The larger stride length ensures you work the full range of leg muscles and burn maximum calories. This longer stride length is also appreciated by taller users or those with longer legs.
Proper Alignment Of Footpads - When you use an elliptical the natural alignment of your body is thrown off no matter how close the footpads are. The Sole E55 elliptical footpads have a slight inward angle of two degrees.
This angle actually helps to puts your body back into a neutral alignment throughout the elliptical motion and protects your back, knees, ankles and hips.
375 lb Weight Capacity - A sign of the stability of the elliptical trainer is seen in how high a user weight capacity it offers. The higher the user weight capacity, the more stable the elliptical trainer (other things being equal). This is one of the highest user weight capacities at this price point.
Built In Speakers with Mp3/iPod Hookup - Plug in your mp3 or iPod and listen to your favorite music or audiobook through the built in speakers. This is a great option to have to make your workouts more entertaining.
Oversize Foot Pedals With Durable Foam Cushioning - The cushioning gives you a more comfortable workout. Because of the angle of these foot pedals, they are actually adjustable to fit the way you walk. This reduces numb toe effects and sore Achilles tendons, common occurrences on other elliptical machines
Extensive Warranty - With a lifetime warranty on the frame, 5 years on the parts and electronics and 2 years on service, this is one of the best elliptical warranties in the business.
We especially like the 2 years warranty on service as most other ellipticals only give you 1 year on service.
Weaknesses:
The Sole E95 has a bit more in terms of console options and stability. But that's about it.
Summary: Highly Recommended
The Sole E55 is an impressive solid, well constructed elliptical. The properly aligned footpads and 20" stride length give you a really smooth, even feel. And the extensive warranty outdoes other ellipticals on the market.
The Sole E95 has a bit more in terms of stability and advanced console options. However if you're looking for a solid, stable club-quality elliptical for under $1500, the Sole E55 is it.
Where To Buy:
You can buy the Sole E 55 direct through the Sole manufacturer. They offer free shipping and no sales tax so you'll save a few hundred dollars.
Sole elliptical trainers are manufactured by Sole Fitness. Sole may seem new but in fact they've been making treadmills for the hotel market for over 20 years and make some of the best treadmills on the market today (they are the preferred treadmill used by Hilton hotels).
