A Quick Review of the Horizon EX57 & Where To Find It At A Discount
Strengths:

1) 18" Stride for More Comfortable Workouts - Although this is becoming fairly standard stride length in higher end units, 18" at this price point is still quite good.

A larger stride length recruits more leg muscles and gives you a better workout. Plus it feels much more comfortable than the standard 14-16" stride (although taller users - over 6 feet - may still want to upgrade to a 20" stride found on the Sole line)

2) Pivoting Foot Pedals - These follow the natural motion of your ankle and again, give you a more comfortable workout. It can result in less stress to your ankle joints - especially if you workout for longer periods of time.

3) 14 lb Flywheel For Smoother Ride - With ellipticals, the heavier the flywheel, the smoother the ride. While this isn't the heaviest flywheel out there, at this price point, it's still excellent.

4) Up to 9 Workout Program Options - There are several different program options with the Horizon EX-57 elliptical. You can choose from 3 different workout goals like time, distance or calories along with 3 terrain options (manual, hills and reverse train) for several different custom workouts.

5) Lower Step-On Height - Horizon ellipticals are known for placing their foot pedals closer to the ground. This lower step-on height makes it easier to get on the elliptical. Many first time users appreciate this as it makes them feel more comfortable.

6) Heart Rate Monitor - It's easy to stay in your target heart rate zone with the hand-grip heart rate monitor built onto the EX-57. Again, a fairly standard feature but it's nice to have none the less.

Weaknesses:

While the EX-57 is a bargain price, it's still an entry level elliptical. Frequent exercisers or those who really like to pick up the pace, may want to upgrade to a heavier duty machine like a Sole that is built to withstand more abuse.

Also, the console is not backlit, so if lighting in your workout area is limited, you may find it hard to read your workout stats.

Summary:  Great Bargain Buy

The Horizon EX-57 Elliptical is a solid bargain elliptical built by a well-regarded name in the business. Although it doesn't have the bells and whistles that other brands may have, it gives you some great core basics like a decent 18" stride, pivoting foot pedals and heavier flywheel.

If you're on a budget and want a strong alternative to the ICON brands (Proform, Reebok, Weslo, Image), The Horizon EX-57 is definitely worth considering - especially at this price.
